Born in Liverpool, Gail left at eighteen months old and had moved around the world by her early teens as her family accompanied her father whose career was in the armed forces. The family then moved back to the North West of England, and Gail has since lived in Cheshire for most of her life.
She had a professional career in Human Resources and Training, but took a career break in 2006 to take her first full length and now internationally acclaimed play `Cheshire Cats' to the Edinburgh Fringe with her local am dram group Guilden Sutton Players. It was a 'Fringe Sell Out Show 2006', and the play was ever published by Samuel French in 2011. Gail has continued to write for the stage ever since.
Her second full-length comedy/drama, 'Bothered and Bewildered', focuses on the problems faced by a family living with dementia. The play premiered as a Tip Top Production to sell out audiences at the Forum Studio Theatre in Chester in October 2014, was published by Samuel French in the spring of 2015, and is now being performed by various groups up and down the UK and abroad.
More recently 'Bouncing Back' premiered as a Gail Young Production to capacity audiences at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester in June 2016, and was published by Samuel French the following spring. This fun and physical play follows the trials and tribulations of a group of women returners to the game of Netball.
Gail is currently working on a variety of projects and scripts for stage and screen. Check the news page on this website for regular updates.
