Grown women, aching feet and heaving bosoms! Follow the Cheshire Cats team as they speedwalk their way to fundraising success in the London Moonwalk - the flagship event for the Walk the Walk charity. The team train hard to walk 13 miles across the capital in record time for charity in their decorated bras and posh new trainers, but the 6th member of their team doesn't seem to meet the physical criteria! CHESHIRE CATS is a cross between a girls night out and a real mission to support a cause close to many hearts, with plenty of laughs and a few tears along the way.
The play was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2006, becoming a 'Fringe Sell Out Show' that year. It has since travelled far and wide. It is a true homage to charity walkers, race marshalls and organisers everywhere, with performing groups often reflecting the ethos of the play by raising funds for their chosen charities and hospices.
"A genuinely funny and even touching ensemble piece" - Edinburgh Fringe review, The Scotsman

'The heart-warming story of a group of friends taking part in the Moon Walk for breast cancer charities had the audience both laughing and crying at Robin Hood Theatre, Averham. Cheshire Cats is just purr-fect.......It is the story of friends - of varying fitness and motivation - training for the 13-mile fundraiser in London, and their eventual participation...........This is a story of life, love, relationships and, most of all, friendships - and it is all brought together beautifully.'
'We came to see the show yesterday... Absolutely fantastic . Funny, heartwarming and a great cast. Very close to home for a lot of us and for those that have ever attended a midnight walk it will have you reliving those previous funny moments.'
'Grown women, heaving bosoms, camaraderie, frayed relationships, aching feet and blisters are inevitable, as five strong females from Cheshire speed walk their way to fundraising success in aid of Breast Cancer in the London Moonwalk......As the programme rightly says "This play is a cross between a girl’s night out and a real mission to support a cause close to many hearts, with plenty of laughs (and a few tears) along the way". Raising funds for Maggies and Cancer Care as they go, Priory Theatre’s production of Cheshire Cats is a wordy, laugh out loud comedy drama written by Gail Young. It contains a well-crafted script, nicely done individual poetic monologues, and a heart-rending moment at its very end - sympathetically well directed by Vicki Lockey....... The star of the show was definitely "the message", which came through loud and clear....Congratulations to the whole Priory Team for another brilliant, poignant, emotional and enjoyable night’s entertainment.'
